Demartek focuses on real-world, hands-on industry analysis and lab validation testing of server, network, storage and security technologies, for the small and medium business (SMB) environment and the large enterprise.

Challenges

We ran a variety of workloads in order to test different types of storage used on the web server, ranging from low-end SATA disk drives to high-end SSDs, using 1GbE and 10GbE networks.

We had not been performing web application load testing before this.

Application tested:

Our first test was a simple, read-intensive, web server application using Microsoft IIS 7.5.

Protocols/technologies tested: HTTP only

Solution

We looked at several alternatives but decided on NeoLoad because it ran well in Windows, was completely priced and had good performance reporting.

The results of most of our testing using NeoLoad are public and available on our website (http://www.demartek.com)
Using NeoLoad gives us the opportunity to broaden our testing opportunities.
We were able to show the difference in web server performance using different types of storage in the web server.
We were able to drive very high workloads through the web server using NeoLoad.
